Blackwater Parent’s Day Out is for children ages 18 months to 4 years of age, with an extended program for the 3 1/2—4 year olds. Children in the extended program must be potty trained. The educational program will cover fundamentals such as colors, shapes, numbers, and letters including the phonetic properties of the alphabet while encouraging each child to participate in positive social interaction. Activities include a daily color sheet and craft, story time, singing, outside play, and special holiday activities. The 3 1/2—4 year olds will also be introduced to age appropriate, educational computer programs.
Times:
(September through May) Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m.— 2:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. Children may not arrive prior to 8:50 a.m. and must be picked up by 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. on Friday). Any child remaining after 2:00 (1:00 on Friday) will be charged a late fee of $1.00 a minute. If a child is still remaining by 2:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. on Friday), an additional fee of $25.00 will be added. Please notify the teacher if anyone other than the parent is to pick up the child.
Registration:
You must register your child to participate in Parents Day Out program. There is a $50.00 nonrefundable registration fee. This holds your child’s spot in the program. We accept no more than 12 children per day ages 18 mos.—3 years, and no more than 8 per day in the 3 /12—4 year old extended program. We do not accept drop-ins. You may sign up your child for one, two, three, four or five days a week; however, they must always remain the same days. For example if you sign up for Tuesday only, you may not bring your child in on Wednesday. The teacher must approve any changes in the schedule.
It is strongly recommended that the 3 1/2—4 year olds attend all five days.
Costs:
Registration Fee - $ 50.00 non-refundable
Tuition -
Each month's payment is due in full, even when absences occur or holidays are observed. This policy holds your child's spot in the program and pays for expenses such as teacher salaries, insurance and utilities.
$75.00 per month for one day a week $100.00 per month for two days a week $125.00 per month for three days a week $150.00 per month for four days a week $175.00 per month for five days a week
Supply Fee -
$50.00 per year due in September. This helps with the costs of crafts, treats, educational toys, etc. In addition to the supply fee we also ask that you bring one box of wipes for the year.
Items your child will need:
~Diapers ~A bag with a complete change of clothes (shirt, shorts/pants, socks, & underwear if potty trained). ~Lunch and drink
NO PIZZA LUNCHABLES OR SOFT DRINKS ALLOWED
Health and Immunization Requirements:
For the safety and health of all the children in the program, any child with signs of fever or any other contagious disease will not be allowed to enter the classroom. Those suspected of having a contagious disease (such as fever, diarrhea, colored discharge, chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye, etc.) will be sent home. They will be required to obtain a statement from their physician in order to return to the program. Children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. There will be neither excuses nor exceptions to the guidelines.
All immunizations must be current.
A current copy of your child's immunization records is required for your child to attend Parent's Day Out. Each child must be in good health at time of registration and supply the school with a signed doctor's statement of good health.
Other information:
~Please label everything you send for your child (bag, cups, diapers, lunch items, jackets, etc.) ~Please do not bring personal toys to PDO. However a special blanket is okay for nap time only. ~Birthdays are special at PDO. If you wish to bring cookies or cupcakes to class for your child's birthday please let the teacher know in advance.
Discipline:
We use time out as our solution to inappropriate behavior such as fighting, biting, kicking, pinching, hitting, or any other action towards other children or adults. Parents will be consulted about any inappropriate behavior that continues.
Holiday and Emergency Closures:
We will follow the East Baton Rouge Parish holiday schedule.
Labor Day Veterans Day Thanksgiving Christmas Martin Luther King Mardi Gras Easter
Emergency closures will also coincide with East Baton Rouge Parish schools.
