BECOME A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

We believe one of the best ways we can experience God in our week is by how we posture ourselves toward God together on Sunday. Our Sunday experience has opportunities for all ages to study, praise, and serve and we would love to have you with us!

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SERVICES

9:15am TRADITIONAL WORSHIP - Led by Lead Pastor, Rev. Pattye Hewitt

Surrounded by the beautiful architecture and stained glass windows within this beautiful worship space, our Sanctuary Service is where you will feel right at home. Each Sunday we gather to sing hymns, pray, and hear a scriptural message. Music each Sunday is led by our Choir Director, Jamie Leonard-Brubaker along with our Worship Accompanist, Dr. Justin West.

10:45am THE TABLE - Led by Rev. Angie Roberson, Assoc. Pastor of Blackwater UMC & Lead Pastor of The Table

For more information about our new faith community see www.cometothetable.church

PARKING & ENTRANCES

There is ample parking surrounding our campus. For our COVID protocols, please enter through one of two entrances located on the side of our Sanctuary (doors facing south).

For The Table, you can enter through the north entrance of the North Campus building (look for The Table banner & flags).

FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

Children are always welcome in our services! For parents who would prefer to have their little ones cared for while in church, we offer an Infant & Toddler Care (infant-3yrs) room for both services that is staffed by trained and background checked employees. Please ask one of our greeters and we will make sure to guide you there.

If you have kids PreK-5th grade, our Blackwater Kids Ministry kicks off every week at 10:30am prior to our casual service, The Table.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Come dressed however you feel most comfortable! You will feel right at home in anything from jeans to business casual.

GENERAL INFORMATION

If you are interested in becoming a member of Blackwater United Methodist, you are invited to get in touch with our Lead Pastor, Rev. Pattye Hewitt or our Associate Pastor, Rev. Angie Roberson. This will help to answer any questions you may have about joining and what it means to be in membership at a United Methodist Church.

DO I HAVE TO BE BAPTIZED TO JOIN THE CHURCH?

All members of the United Methodist Church are baptized Christians, which means that when you come to join, you may do so with a profession of faith which will include a time of baptism. If you have already been baptized, at any age or in any Christian denomination, we recognize and receive your baptism and welcome you into our membership as a transfer from another Christian church. If you or a member of your family would like to schedule a baptism, you may do so by contacting the church office at 225-261-4646 and one of our pastors will connect with you.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF MEMBERS?

Members of all United Methodist churches are asked to commit to the following categories of Christian living.

  • Prayers:  Members commit to pray for our church, our community and our world.

  • Presence:  Members commit to be present in worship and other opportunities where they can grow in their faith.

  • Giving:  Members commit to financially support the mission and ministry of the church through regular offering.

  • Service:  Members commit to serve and be a part of the work the church is doing locally, regionally and around our world.

  • Witness:  Members commit to living and sharing a life of faith that reflects their commitment to Christ.

DO CHILDREN BECOME MEMBERS TOO?

We take very seriously our commitment to partner with families in the process of nurturing children into Christian faith. We believe it is one of the most important things we do as a community of faith. Children who join our church with their families are called preparatory members in anticipation of Confirmation, held in youth group each year. This class is led by our Director of Student Ministries; they will be introduced to the basics of Christian faith and church membership. At the conclusion of confirmation, these young people are confirmed as full members of our church.
